The true reason for government should be to protect people

The true reason for government should be to protect people FROM force and fraud. That’s it. Unfortunately today, government forces we the people to do things (often times) through fraudulent means. Until we repeal the 16th amendment (for starters) and stop hiring politicians to steal from our neighbors in order to redistribute the plunder, our constitutional republic will continue to hang on by a thread.
